Arriving by ferry
Two passenger routes run daily into Kuah Jetty — the classic sea route if you're not flying.
Kuala Kedah ↔ Langkawi and Kuala Perlis ↔ Langkawi, both arriving at Kuah Jetty. Crossing takes roughly 1.5–2 hours, run by Langkawi Ferry Line. Book online ahead — ticket sales close 24 hours before departure, and weekends and school holidays are the busiest.
The direct Penang–Langkawi ferry hasn't run since 2020. Coming from Penang, fly instead (about 40 minutes) or connect through the ferry from Kuala Perlis.
Grab works here but can mean a wait. Fixed-rate taxi coupon counters sit right outside, and car and scooter rental counters are inside the terminal. Pantai Cenang is about 30 minutes away. See fixed-price transfers from the jetty →
A separate vehicle ferry runs Kuala Perlis to Tanjung Lembung terminal (about 12 km from Kuah) daily — vehicles roll straight on, no loading hassle.
Private driver, by the hour.
You name the stops. Cable car, mangrove, lunch at Wonderland, sunset photos at Tanjung Rhu — your driver knows the shortcuts and waits with the engine off and the AC on.
